Purpose
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India aimed at promoting sustainable development in rural India. The programme encourages higher education institutions to adopt villages and work toward their social and economic development. UBA has had a significant impact since its launch in 2014, leading to improved living standards, raised educational standards, created employment opportunities, promoted eco-friendly practices, and encouraged community participation.
The programme has led to villages gaining access to basic amenities such as water supply, sanitation, and electricity, which has improved the living conditions of people in rural areas. UBA has also raised educational standards in rural areas, providing quality education and training to students, resulting in better employment prospects. Moreover, UBA has created new employment opportunities by promoting local entrepreneurship, leading to migration from urban areas to rural areas, resulting in improved economic growth. The programme has also promoted eco-friendly practices to reduce the negative impact of development on the environment, and encouraged community participation in the development process.
